CPC/PPC - Cost Per Click/Pay Per Click
Any website or engine that charges per Click not per impression. Typcial association is Google Adwords. You define a list of keywords with associated text and links that shows for that keyword, and you bid for highest spot on the google page.

CSE - Comparison Shopping Engine
Sites like Shopzilla and Nextag allow you to upload a feed (csv file) with details like product name, url link, description, price, etc. Then you bid on placement in a targeted category.

Which is cheaper?
AdWords. Adwords average CPC is higher b/c of Google's massive traffic volume, but it doesn't require a specific funded amount. You could start for $10 and bid $.10. CSE's average a bank of $50 to start the account. The CPC is averaged at $0.20 minimum.

Which produces higher ROI?
Depends. On Google customers usually search for the category, "Camping Equipment". While on a CSE a customer would narrow that down to "6 Person Camping Tent". Both methods offer potential ROI. CSE's also have smaller affiliate sites that feed off the database much like Googles AdSense displays ads outside of google. Both sites can also run away like a pack of wild dogs if not kept in check and tracked regularly.
